Baby Toys

Conner has been enjoying looking at his baby pictures lately.  He gets it, that it's him in those pictures.  It's fun to see Conner at Shep's age.  Conner had SO much hair and poor Shep doesn't have any=)  They really don't look a think a like.  (I'll add some pics later, they are on Zack's computer)

I remembered how I used to get out a big blanket and put a basket of baby toys on it and let Conner tip the basket over and explore.  I never even thought of doing that with Shep.  Shep plays with trains and matchbox cars...whatever is laying around.  I got the basket out a minute ago for little Shep and Conner has suddenly decided that those are the coolest toys he's ever seen.  Maybe that's why I haven't gotten them out...Shep really wouldn't be able to explore in peace with Conner around.  Guess I'll have to wait until Conner is asleep sometime.

Conner is playing with a stuffed reindeer and calling it a "Sheep" right now...something like that.

Shhhhhh!!

Story time didn't go so great last week.  It doesn't help that they have markers there for afterward.  Conner loves markers and we only do crayons at home (I'm sure you can't imagine why=)  It's so hard to wait til after the story!  We had a talk this morning about being quiet in the library.  I told him we can talk loud at the park, at home or outside, but when we go to the library we have to talk quietly.  He started whispering, "Quiet" and saying, "shhhh".  It's so nice that we can actually talk about things and he understands what I'm saying!  Today went much better, but next week it looks like we are going to have to talk about not running in the library...even if he does it quietly

Little Shep wants to crawl so bad!  He scrunches his little bottom up and scoots along.  I think it will be awhile till he can lift himself up...there's a lot to lift!

The Latest

Here are some of the latest from Mr. Personality  I got to write this stuff down somewhere so I don't forget!

It's funny how they say things based on things you say to them and in doing so it turns out kinda backwards!  Conner says, "Yours" when referring to things that are his.  I guess from me saying, "That's yours and where's yours."  If he's looking for something he says, "Hiding...find...yours."

He calls himself "Cah-cah".  It's funny.

The other day he got his shoes out and his lawn mower and said, "Ready."  I said, "Ready for what?" and he said "Outside."  Guess he was letting me know that he was ready anytime I wanted to go outside.  If he wants to do something he'll say, "Ready", "ok' or "go" and I have to figure out what it is he's wanting to do.

Last week I told him we were going to go get some new books and he started saying, "Library".  It's cool to see them making connections like that!  Story time starts back up tomorrow morning.  I"m much excited!  Conner loves it!   They get to color with markers there.  Something I never let him do at home.  Can you imagine what a disaster that would be?

I was singing, "If your happy and you know it..." the other day and we were doing the motions.  Conner tried to teach Shep how to clap.  He grabbed Shep's hands and started putting them together.

More Cuteness

There's a lot of cuteness going on around here, amid the tantrums and lack of sleep!  Here are a few stories for the Grandmas!

I love how kids can get their point across with the limited vocab they have.  Conner has a huge vocabulary, but he's not stringing words together yet.  Two words at a time are about all he can do.  Sometimes I let Conner sit on his stool and eat a snack using the coffee table.  He LOVES to do this...somehow it's more exciting than sitting at the kitchen table.  I guess I usually tell him to be "careful".  The other day I had made Conner sometime to eat and put it on the table.  He started pointing to the coffee table saying, "Careful".  Guess he was telling me he would be careful, as his way of asking to eat in there.

I love buying Conner little things.  It just lights his whole face up.  I know kids can't have everything they want and they don't need to get everything they want, but I still wish I could buy him the things he likes.  It makes me so happy to see how happy he is!  I bought him some new jumbo crayons at Target the other day.  I told him not to open them until we got home and he didn't!  He held them all thru the store and all the way home.  He won't use his old colors anymore, just the new ones.  He carries them around sometimes, all 8 of them and everytime I put them with his old colors, he takes them out to keep them separate.

Conner was driving his cars in the bathroom sink the other day.  I let him put a little water in it.  I set a little towel by the sink in case he needed to dry his hands off.  I peeked around the corner and he had climbed off his stool and was drying the floor and cabinet off, where a little water had spilled.  It was so cute!  He's never cleaned up after himself before!

Conner had a kosher dill for breakfast yesterday.  I was packing Zack's lunch and he saw the pickles.  He ate a slice of red pepper raw too.  I was slicing some up for dinner.  He just came up and said, "Green bean"(haha) and ate one.

I like to make Italian sodas and of course, Conner likes to have a sip.  The other day when I was drinking one.  He wanted some, so I got out a straw so he would actually get some in his mouth and not spill it everywhere.  The next day I heard Conner in the pantry.  He likes to get in there and pull things out, but I heard him close it back up.  Later when I went into the kitchen I saw his stool next to the counter (stools are dangerous...they give them much more access to things) and a straw in my drink.  He drank the whole thing.  Better not leave anything caffienated lying around!!  LOL!

We are attempting to start potty training.  I think we're going to have trouble because in Conner's mind, it's just easier to go in his diaper.  He understands, but is just TOO busy playing to go in the potty.  Every time I ask him if he wants to go, he just says "No" and keeps playing.  He LOVES matchbox cars so I was going to pick up a few to use as prizes.  I told him last night that if he went in the potty, I would let him pick-out a new car, to which he replied, "Car carrier".  There is a car carrier at Target that costs $20 that he REALLY wants.  Guess he needed to make the trip to the potty worth while.  See what I'm up against??=)

Some new words: pickle, trumpet, magenta (haha), notebook, find, hooray, dinosaur, rice, rabbit.  He's great.  We love him.
